The Apple Watch Series 5 is an amazing smartwatch however sometimes it might need repairing to do, here are our top repair guides for the Apple Watch Series 5
Apple Watch Series 5 is definitely the smartwatch to go for if you are looking for something that truly revolutionizes the concept of smartphones. Granted, Apple has not changed the design language ever since the original one came out but that only means that if something is not broken, there is no need to fix it.
Normally, the Apple Watch is considered to be one of the more durable options available in the market, and we completely stand behind that decision, as well. However, what you must understand here is that every now and then, you may run into a number of issues pertaining to the watch that would then force you to either repair the watch yourself or take it to the professionals.
Now, Apple being Apple, does not really make it easy for the end user to pry around with their hardware. However, if your watch is out of warranty, and you are confident enough to want to do it on your own, you can actually tinker around and start repairing it on your own.
A word of advice is that if your watch is still in Apple Care, it would be better if you claim for warranty because repairing it on your own could damage the watch and opening it up will definitely void your warranty, as well. Which means that proper precaution is advised.
With that said, we are going to talk about some tools that you need as well, so you are well prepared for this repair guide.
Tools Required to Repair Apple Watch Series 5
Without a good set of tools you never know what your experience is going to be, really. Therefore, having proper information on all of this is rather important. With that said, we have mentioned the tools you would need to open your Apple Watch Series 5. Considering how most of these tools are really common, chances are that you won’t be needing to buy new ones.
Still, if you do not have all the tools, you could always invest in an iFixit tool kit that should solve most of your problems. With that said, the tools required to open up and potentially repair the Apple Watch Series 5 are listed below.
• A basic toolkit that includes some suction holders.
• A phone opening razor set.
• Opening picks.
• Tweezers.
• A tripoint screwdriver.
• Spuger.
Now before we start talking about how to open up your Apple Watch, we are going to talk about a number of different damages that you can run into and what you should be doing in that case.
A Damaged Screen
In an ideal condition, the screen of the Apple Watch screen should not break as it uses good, high-quality glass. But glass is glass, and that is why there are tempered glass protectors for the watch’s face. However, there are some higher-end models of the Apple Watch that come with sapphire crystal on the face rather than common glass, and sapphire is a normal material used in higher-end watches, so you do not have to worry about the shattering all that matter. However, in case you do end up damaging the screen or smashing the glass, you will need to replace the glass, or if you have the top tier of Apple Care, you could always opt-in for a replacement, which would make more sense, as well.
Damaging The Strap
One of the best thing about Apple Watches or watches, in general, is that the straps or bracelet are easily changed. While you are not going to be able to damage the strap in a catastrophic manner aside from some scuffs and scratches, if you are still worried, Apple Watches have quick release straps that you can just remove in a matter of seconds and replace them with newer ones.
You could go for the first party straps if you want but if that is not enough, you could always invest in third party options like a Milanese mesh strap, or a stainless steel bracelet. The choice truly is yours.
Water Damage
Water damage is perhaps one of the most common culprits behind a lot of hour devices failing on us. With Apple Watches, the case is not going to be that egregious. For starters, almost all the Apple Watches available in the market are certified under the ISO Standard 22810:2010, which means that the watches are capable of having water resistance of up to 50 meters.
However, Apple does warn that the watches are not made for scuba diving, water skiing, or other activities that involve deep or high-velocity water as that will damage the watch. In case of water damage, your best case is to dry the watch by putting it in a bag of rice as it is going to soak out all the moisture and then let it dry for at least 24 hours.
Should You Open The Apple Watch on Your Own?
Now, here is the tricky part. We know that we talked about opening the watch on your own and even listed the tools, but here is the thing. The process can be tricky. As a watch enthusiast, I have opened a lot of watches on my own and this is nothing like that. You are going to need a lot of patience, and even then, you are voiding the warranty on your own.
The good news is that Apple Care should help you to some extent but if you have completely lost hope and damaged the watch altogether, take it to professionals rather than opening it on your own. True, you are going to pay the professionals to do the repairs on their own but at least you will know that they have all the right tools for the job. Not just that, professionals also know how to source the right parts.
With that said, as long as there is a genuine flaw with your Apple Watch like the watch is not charging or there are random reboots that are happening or the battery is bloating, Apple will be more than happy to accept the warranty claim provided that there has been no tampering with the watch and you have the right receipts as well.
What Are The Best Situations For Repairing Your Apple Watch?
Now if you are still adherent on fixing the Apple Watch on your own, the thing that you need to understand here is that you can. Sourcing the parts can be difficult but if you have exhausted all your options and going to a repair is not something you are willing to, you can start the teardown on your own.
You can find really handy guides for that on the internet and that should solve most of your issues as far as the repairing is concerned. Just be sure that whenever you are taking apart the watch, you have drained the battery, removed the straps, and made sure that you are being careful about the process. There are a lot of fragile cables that can break if you force too hard and that will result in you losing the device forever. So, proper care is always advised.
