You can replace the MacBook Pro Glass Screen all by yourself by following our easy step by step visual guide without causing any damage to your laptop
It is no secret that Apple MacBook Pro is considered one of the best laptops in the tech world. However, even this elite class device is prone to damages, regardless of the heft price it comes at.
The gorgeous, high-resolution display of MacBook Pro is quite sturdy, but you may need to have it replaced if the glass screen gets cracked, broken, or damaged. The good news is that you don’t need to spend a fortune on this as you can easily replace the glass screen of your device even if you’re not a tech pro. So let’s get started without wasting any more time.
Before you begin, it’s a good idea to set up your working space so that you can carry out the screen replacement process with ease. Here is what you will need:
- Your MacBook Pro
- New screen
- Blow dryer/ heating pad
- Suction cup
- Clean cloth
Step 1: Heating The Screen
- The glass screen is attached to the display with the help of a strong adhesive layer at the edges.
- Use a blow dryer or a heating pad to apply heat to the edges of the screen. This will soften the adhesive and make it easier to remove the glass screen from the display.
Step 2: Pulling Off The Screen
- Attach the suction cup towards one corner of the screen. If it is cracked or broken, you may need to cover up the areas with tape so that the suction cap can attach with the screen securely.
- Press down on the suction cup to ensure that it seals with the glass screen.
- Push the suction cup towards you to remove the screen from the display of your MacBook Pro
Step 3: Prepping The Display
- Before you replace the new screen on your laptop, clean the display using a clean lint-free cloth.
- Apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol on a cloth and wipe away the leftover adhesive from the edges.
Step 4: Prepping The New Glass Screen
- Clean the new screen with a lint-free cloth
- Peel off the plastic covering the adhesive layer on the edges of the new screen to expose the adhesive
- Use a hairdryer to heat the adhesive layer on your new glass screen. This will ensure that it is attached securely with the display.
Step 5: Applying The New Glass Screen
At any point in time if you break the Macbook there are professional repair shops who can help fix your apple macbook.
- Place the new screen in position over the display while making sure that its edges are aligned with the display.
- Press down on the edges of the screen to make sure that the adhesive created a strong bond between the 2 layers.
- Remove the plastic layer covering the new screen.
- Use a hair dryer once again to apply controlled heat to the edges of the screen to ensure that the adhesive is sealed properly. Keep in mind that the display should not get overheated, or it can get damaged permanently.
- Press on the edges of the screen one final time, and you’ll be good to go!
