A weak wi-fi can cause a lot of distress when we live in a moving network and sometimes your iPhone can have weak wi-fi signals and here are the reasons why
None of us anticipated just how much our lives would change after Steve Jobs first unveiled the iPhone back in 2008. This is when we all entered a new era, namely the era of smart technology. After the iPhone was sold to the public, people recognized how much this would change their lives for the better. It was now possible to contact and connect with people from around the world since this phone could house multiple social media applications. Checking work emails, browsing the internet, making calls, and listening to music and everything else was now possible thanks to this palm-sized device that we can carry around.
This is why Apple continues having a cult-like following simply because they are the pioneers of smart technology. Of course, this does not mean that iPhones are not free of faults. Several problems are considered almost characteristic of iPhones, and this includes battery problems, issues with charging cables, and limited storage space (this is no longer a problem with recent models). However, for the sake of this article, we will be focusing exclusively on Wi-Fi and connection related issues. A large number of iPhone users have, over the years, complained about issues with connectivity, and this includes trouble connecting with Wi-Fi and weak signals when connected with Wi-Fi. This problem was especially bad with the iPhone 6, but other model users have also complained from time to time about this issue.
If you happen to be an iPhone user with the same complaint or are just curious about what might be causing this issue then you are in the right place! This article is dedicated to the subject of connectivity issues, what might be causing them and how you can go about possibly fixing them.
Phone Model
The iPhone 6 has really bad connectivity issues and this is believed to be a manufacturing issue. So if you happen to own an iPhone 6, then you should consider switching out and opting for a different model. The iPhone 6 also happens to be a relatively old model as well, so you are already missing out on some things and your iPhone has likely slowed down as well since Apple has admitted to doing that to old models every time a new one is launched. So this is a failure on the manufacturing end, and switching to a different model will help you in this situation.
Connectivity Issues
This seems simple, but when facing connectivity issues, there are many things you can try and this includes and is not limited to
- Turning your phone’s Wi-Fi off and then on restarting it.
- You can go to forget the network and then reconnect to the same network by entering the password again.
- You can restart your iPhone and see if that makes a difference.
These are the simpler solutions that you can try and see if they make any difference. If none of these solutions end up working for you, one last resort would be to simply factory reset your iPhone and see if that proves to be useful or not.
Case Interference
This is not a common cause behind slow Wi-Fi speeds or connectivity issues but sometimes our phone’s cover can become a source of interference. This happens when your cover is made of unconventional materials or if it is blocking the antenna or Wi-Fi signal receiver. One quick way to check this theory is to simply remove your iPhone’s case and see if that leads to any difference in your Wi-Fi speeds. If you do notice a difference, then your cover might be the cause of the problem here. Simply switching your case here will resolve your issue.
Contacting Your Internet Service Provider
There are instances where the fault does not necessarily lie in your phone. The problem can be coming from your Internet service provider (ISP), so this is where you will have to call your internet service provider and ask them if the issue here might be coming from their end. This is, of course, only the case a handful of times, but if you have already exhausted your options then there is no harm in calling and asking them.
Signal Interference
This is a problem that occurs in neighborhoods or other areas that happen to have a lot of other Wi-Fi devices nearby. Your iPhone is technically designed to latch onto strong Wi-Fi signals, so if you live in an area where you are surrounded by different Wi-Fi signals and devices, the interference can end up affecting your Wi-Fi connection since your iPhone will be trying to switch between different Wi-Fi channels because it is trying to figure out which one you might need at the time. To resolve this issue to an extent, you can try moving your Wi-Fi router to a different position or area where you know you will not be facing disruption from strong neighboring Wi-Fi signals.
Updating Your iPhone
This usually seems like an afterthought but your iPhone can end up creating issues over time if you do not regularly update it. So, if you happen to have any pending iOS upgrades, we strongly recommend opting for them to see if your problem gets resolved. Usually, an update comes with fixes for different bugs and problems that users might be facing, so this can end up potentially fixing your problem for you.
Router Problems
This is not a common cause for this problem but sometimes your router is the cause of the problem. Your router could simply be transmitting weak signals, and you can check this out by seeing if other devices are also facing weak connection or connectivity issues. If this happens to be the case, you can borrow another router, set it up, and see if the other router is transmitting better signals. If this happens to be the case, then you know the source of the problem and how to fix it now. In case it doesn’t work, you can look elsewhere.
