Must Buy: One Plus 7T is a Killer Flagship
Smartphones have been becoming more and more expensive with every passing year. The latest flagships of this year are so ridiculously priced that anyone would think twice before buying them. Do you really have to pay around $1000 if you want the latest phone with all the latest bells and whistles? Not really. OnePlus is a smartphone manufacturer that gained popularity by doing one thing right; listening to their customers. At the moment, OnePlus is one of the best smartphone makers in the market. And despite jumping on the premium flagship bandwagon like everyone else, they still care about what their customers want.
The 90Hz AMOLED Display
The front of the phone is 90% screen. And this is a great thing since the 7T has a superb screen. The AMOLED display has vibrant colors and boasts a refresh rate of 90Hz. On paper, the 7T’s screen does not sound amazing. Its brightness is not out of this world and its image output is not the sharpest that you can find in the market. However, the 90Hz refresh rate of the HD+ display certainly makes up for these problems. Everything on the screen feels so satisfyingly fluid.
Sure, the 474 nits of brightness will make using the phones outdoors a little annoying. But this does not mean that the 7T is not great for watching movies and for gaming.
Processing Power
A slightly disappointing camera does not mean that the 7T is a failure. This phone has a lot more to offer that makes up for its camera setup. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus chip, the latest chip developed by Qualcomm. This chip consists of 8 cores and offers marginally better performance than the Snapdragon 855. The performance difference between the 855 and 855 Plus doesn’t seem like much on paper, but the latter feels noticeably more powerful when you use it.
Battery Life
OnePlus gave the 7T a 3800mAh battery. The battery is not astonishingly huge, but OnePlus’ Warm Charge 30T technology makes up for the lack of milliamperes. The phone can go from zero percent to 70 percent in only 30 minutes. Just like before, OnePlus has decided to not offer wireless charging. This helps keep their phone’s price tag smaller.
The phone seems to last for a shorter period of time than the OnePlus 7. This is thanks to the 90Hz screen. Thankfully, OnePlus is aware of this fact and they give you an option to set your screen’s refresh rate to 60Hz.
