Acer Swift (1, 3, 5, X series)

Swift ultrabooks use low-travel scissor-switch keyboards. The shallow key travel means debris directly impacts the scissor mechanism underneath — a small amount of dust or a crumb causes key wobble or sticking on the Swift 3 and Swift 5. The Swift X series with backlit keyboards also develops flex-cable failures at the keyboard connector over time.

Acer Nitro 5 / Predator Helios & Triton

Gaming keyboards on Nitro and Predator are more robust but the RGB backlighting circuitry develops zone failures — one lighting zone goes dark while others remain functional. The Predator Helios 300 and Triton 300 also develop WASD key wear faster than other key zones due to gaming use. Full keyboard deck replacement is generally required when zone lighting fails.

Acer TravelMate (P2, P4, P6)

Business-grade TravelMate keyboards are more durable but the spill-resistant drainage channels can become blocked over time, causing liquid to pool under the deck instead of draining. When this happens the membrane layer is damaged and full keyboard replacement is required.

Keyboard Flex Cable and Connector

On Swift and TravelMate models, the keyboard flex cable connects via a ZIF connector on the motherboard. Repeated aggressive typing can fatigue the cable near the fold point. We inspect this cable on every keyboard job — a damaged cable will cause the same unresponsive-key symptoms as a failed keyboard deck, and replacing the deck without catching the cable fault will not fix the problem.

Predator RGB Zone Replacement

Predator Helios and Triton keyboards use per-zone RGB backlighting driven by separate LED drivers. When one zone fails, the keyboard deck must be replaced as a complete assembly — individual LED repair is not practical on the Predator keyboard PCB. We carry Predator-specific keyboard assemblies to match the exact chassis generation.

Aspire Keycap and Scissor Clip Replacement

If only one or two keycaps have snapped off on an Aspire and the underlying membrane is intact, we can replace the individual keycap and scissor clip assembly rather than the full keyboard deck. This is a faster and lower-cost repair when the damage is isolated to one key.
