RAID Recovery Singapore – RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 & 10 Data Recovery
Failed RAID array? Degraded volume? Lost access to your data? BreakFixNow recovers data from all RAID configurations — NAS, desktop, server, and external RAID enclosures. Free diagnosis. No data, no fee.

What is RAID Recovery?
RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) is a technology that combines multiple drives to improve performance or protect against data loss. When a RAID array fails — due to multiple drive failures, controller corruption, accidental deletion, or power surges — your data becomes inaccessible. RAID recovery is the process of extracting and restoring that data without permanently destroying the array.
At BreakFixNow, we recover data from all RAID levels and all hardware — whether it’s a Synology NAS, a desktop with a hardware RAID card, or a rack-mounted server. We image drives first, work non-destructively, and give you a clear assessment before any recovery work begins.
RAID Levels We Recover
| RAID Level | How It Works | Common Failure | Recoverable? |
|---|---|---|---|
| RAID 0 | Striped, no redundancy | Any single drive failure | ✓ Yes (if drives intact) |
| RAID 1 | Mirrored across 2 drives | Both mirrors fail; controller fault | ✓ Yes |
| RAID 5 | Striped with parity, 3+ drives | 2+ drive failures; URE during rebuild | ✓ Yes (common) |
| RAID 6 | Dual parity, 4+ drives | 3+ drive failures; controller corruption | ✓ Yes |
| RAID 10 | Mirrored stripes | Both drives in a mirror pair fail | ✓ Yes |
| JBOD/SHR | Synology Hybrid RAID | Drive failure, volume corruption | ✓ Yes |
What We Recover From
- 🖥️ NAS RAID Arrays — Synology, QNAP, WD My Cloud, Asustor, Buffalo, Netgear ReadyNAS
- 💻 Desktop / Workstation RAID — Hardware RAID cards (LSI, Adaptec, Areca), motherboard RAID (Intel RST, AMD RAIDXpert)
- 💧 Server RAID — Dell PERC, HP Smart Array, IBM ServeRAID
- 📦 External RAID Enclosures — Drobo, Thunderbolt RAID enclosures, USB RAID boxes
- ⛅ Software RAID — Windows Storage Spaces, Linux md RAID, macOS RAID
Common RAID Failure Scenarios
- 🔴 Multiple drive failures — RAID 5 with 2 failed drives; RAID 0 with any failed drive
- 🔴 URE during rebuild — Rebuild starts but fails partway, corrupting the array
- 🔴 RAID controller failure — Controller card dies; replacement won’t recognise the array
- 🔴 Accidental RAID reinitialisation — Array accidentally reset or reformatted
- 🔴 NAS firmware corruption — DSM/QTS update failure leaves volume inaccessible
- 🔴 Power surge or sudden power loss — Volume marked dirty; file system corruption
- 🔴 Accidental deletion — Files or shared folders deleted from a healthy array
- 🔴 RAID degraded — Array shows degraded but won’t mount
⚠️ What NOT To Do When Your RAID Fails
The most important thing you can do when a RAID fails is stop and do nothing. Many recovery attempts are made worse by well-intentioned actions:
- ❌ Do NOT force a RAID rebuild without imaging the drives first — a failed rebuild can make data permanently unrecoverable
- ❌ Do NOT swap in a new drive and rebuild if more than one drive has failed
- ❌ Do NOT reinitialise the array to “start fresh” — this overwrites parity data needed for recovery
- ❌ Do NOT run chkdsk or fsck on RAID volumes without professional guidance
- ❌ Do NOT continue powering on a RAID with clicking or grinding drives
Power the system down, keep the drives in their current order, and bring everything to us for assessment first.
Our RAID Recovery Process
- Free Diagnosis — We assess all drives, check SMART data, and identify the failure mode. No charge.
- Drive Imaging — Sector-by-sector images of all drives before any recovery work. Originals are never touched.
- Array Reconstruction — We reconstruct RAID parameters (stripe size, block order, parity rotation) and rebuild the logical volume virtually.
- File System Recovery — We extract the file system and recover your files and folder structure.
- Data Verification — You review the recovered file list before we transfer data to your destination drive.
- Delivery — Data delivered to a new drive or external storage of your choice.

RAID Recovery Singapore — FAQ
Can you recover data from a RAID 0 array with one failed drive?
RAID 0 has no redundancy — if any drive fails, the entire array is inaccessible. However, if the failed drive has a logical fault, we can often recover data by imaging the failed drive first and reconstructing the stripe. Physical head crashes significantly reduce recovery chances. Bring it in for a free assessment first.
My RAID 5 started rebuilding after a drive failure, then a second drive failed. Can you still recover?
Yes — this is one of the most common RAID 5 failure scenarios (URE during rebuild). We can often still recover data by working at the sector level across all remaining drives. Do not attempt another rebuild — bring the array to us as-is.
My Synology NAS shows a degraded volume. Is my data safe?
A degraded volume means one drive has failed but the array is still functioning. Your data is accessible for now, but without redundancy — if another drive fails, you risk total data loss. Back up what you can and bring it in immediately for a free assessment.
Does the RAID controller need to be the same for recovery?
Not necessarily. We can reconstruct RAID parameters manually using our recovery tools. In most cases we do not need the original controller. If you have it, bring it along as it may help confirm parameters.
How long does RAID recovery take?
RAID 1 and simple NAS recoveries typically take 1–2 business days. RAID 5 and RAID 6 with multiple drive failures usually take 2–4 business days. We will give you a specific timeline after the free diagnosis.
What file systems do you support?
All common file systems — ext4, Btrfs (Synology), XFS, NTFS, exFAT, HFS+, and APFS. We are experienced with DSM and QTS volume structures.
What happens if you cannot recover my data?
You pay nothing for the recovery attempt. The free diagnosis is always free regardless of outcome. We give an honest assessment of recovery likelihood before any paid work begins.
Can I drop in without an appointment?
Yes — walk-ins are welcome. For RAID arrays with many drives or rack-mounted equipment, WhatsApp us first so a senior technician is available to receive the case properly.
