iPad Pro M4 Screen Repair: What to Expect (Singapore Guide)

The iPad Pro M4 (the 7th generation iPad Pro, in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes) changed two things that matter for repair. It is the first iPad with an OLED screen, and it is extremely thin. Here’s what that means if you’ve cracked one.

What’s Different About the M4 Screen

• Tandem OLED. Apple calls it Ultra Retina XDR: two OLED layers stacked for extra brightness. Earlier iPad Pros used LCD or mini-LED, so their screens aren’t interchangeable.
• A very thin body. The 13-inch model is about 5.1mm thick and the 11-inch about 5.3mm. The display is fragile to remove, and the job needs care and the right tools.
• ProMotion 120Hz. The replacement must keep it, or scrolling and Pencil drawing feel less smooth.
• Optional nano-texture glass. Some units have Apple’s matte nano-texture finish. Tell us if yours does, as it affects the part.

Apple or Independent?

With AppleCare+, Apple’s screen damage fee is the cheapest route. Without it, Apple’s out-of-warranty service for a damaged iPad is a replacement unit at a flat fee. For the iPad Pro that sits at the top end of Apple’s S$355–1,765 range. An independent repair replaces only the screen and gives you back your own iPad.

Questions to Ask Before You Book

1. Is the replacement an OLED panel, and which grade?
2. Does it keep 120Hz ProMotion and Apple Pencil Pro support?
3. What warranty comes with it? (Ours is 90 days.)
4. Is the part in stock now, or does it need ordering?

Until It’s Repaired

• Back up to iCloud now. A cracked OLED can fail suddenly as the crack spreads.
• Cover the crack with clear tape to stop glass splinters.
• Don’t press on the screen or bend the iPad. The thin body flexes more than older models.
• Watch for ghost touch or spreading black areas, which mean the OLED layer itself is failing.
